More than 6,600 players take part in World Series of Poker main event
Despite the aftermath of the pandemic, thousands of players participated in this year's WSOP Main Event. In addition to the WSOP bracelet, the winner of the tournament will receive a handsome $8 million prize. WSOP Main Event attracts 6,650 entries Last year, the COVID-19 global pandemic hampered travel and sporting events around the world. The number of visitors to hotels and casinos plummeted, as did their revenues. Face-to-face poker events were affected by the pandemic as well. In fact, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) last year had to postpone some of its events into the autumn and winter. In light of the pandemic, the WSOP decided to hold two online poker tournaments as part of the main event. The winners of those tournaments then meet for live play. As a result, last year's WSOP main event saw a significant drop in the number of participants . In contrast, the 2019 Main Event attracted around 8,569 participants. This was the second highest number of participants in WSOP history. Nevertheless, it looks like this year's WSOP Main Event entries are returning in full force . According to https://casinoschublade.com/, despite the vaccination requirement as well as health and safety measures, 6,650 participants registered for this year's event . Consequently, entries have amassed an impressive prize pool of $62,011,250 . Top players expect big prizes This year's WSOP Main Event kicks off November 4 and runs through November 17 . Although all of the top 1,000 entrants are set to win prizes, only the first 9 players will receive prizes above $1 million. When it comes to a 9th or 10th-11th place player, the difference in prizes is pretty significant. If a player finishes 9th, they will get a prize of $1 million while players who finish 10th or 11th will only take home $585,000. On the other hand, the 3rd place player will go home with $3 million and the 2nd place player will get $4.3 million. However, when it comes to first place, the prize money goes up significantly. The winner of the WSOP Main Event will collect a respectable prize of $8 million as well as the WSOP bracelet. With around 1,000 players remaining in the battle, it's still too early to tell who the winner will be. Earlier this week famous poker pro and 2003 WSOP World Championship winner Chris Manimaker took part in the main event . According to the WSOP, he is currently in 12th place with 1432,000 in chips.
